Did you hear what happened in the Senate today?

By Tom Keyes, on May 23, 2012

Today Senate President Therese Murray declared the state’s budget is not a money bill. That’s right; a budget that expends $32 billion of our tax dollars is not a money bill.

Only in the Massachusetts Senate, under the leadership of Murray, would a budget not be a money bill.  Once again, this shows how much they are running amok on Beacon Hill.  Two weeks ago, it was banning bake sales.  Now budgets are not money.

By Tom Keyes, on May 16, 2012

Sandwich—Today Tom Keyes, Republican candidate for State Senate in the Plymouth & Barnstable District, announced his disappointment in EBT reforms included in the Senate budget.

“The lack of substantial reforms is extremely disappointing.  Under Senate President Therese Murray’s leadership, the Senate budget doesn’t address the problem of out-of-state travel, limit cash advances or stop the usage of the cards on cruise ships.  She had an opportunity to protect taxpayers and has failed,” said Keyes.

Keyes Bake Sale

By Tom Keyes, on May 9, 2012

By now you have heard the latest foolishness out of the State House.

Due to a legislative directive, the Department of Public Health has developed new regulations that could stop bake sales in schools.  It is completely ridiculous and shows how our state government has run amok.

Candidate Calls on Legislature to Override Patrick Administration

Sandwich—Today Tom Keyes, Republican candidate for State Senate in the Plymouth & Barnstable District, criticized the Patrick administration’s plan to ban bake sales.

“This is government run amok.  As a father I think schools should be allowed to have a bake sale to help the local band or other activities raise money.  We are not going to solve the issue of obesity by banning bake sales,” said Keyes.  “Where has common sense gone?”
