Keyes Blames Murray For Business Decline In Massachusetts

By Tom Keyes, on Jul 11, 2012

Sandwich—Today Tom Keyes, candidate for State Senate in the Plymouth and Barnstable district, reacted to CNBC’s release of the top states for business.  Massachusetts has dropped from 6th place last year to 28th place this year.

“This is not the result I want for Massachusetts.  Is it no wonder why we have lost a Congressional district worth of people out of our state?  They are economic refugees,” said Keyes.

CNBC stated the reason for the huge drop is due to the Massachusetts economy “faltering.”  States are ranked on cost of doing business, workforce, quality of life, infrastructure, economy, education, technology, business friendliness, access to capital and cost of living.

“We saw last year Fidelity move many of their jobs out of state.  The Senate President traveled to Finland for a so-called trade mission, but did not pick up the phone to call Fidelity,” said Keyes.  “This rating proves once again why we need to elect a new Senator who will make jobs and the economy a priority not political gamesmanship.”

Keyes, 45, has served on the Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates and as a Sandwich Selectman.  He has also served on numerous boards and committees including: Water Quality Review Committee, Sandwich Economic Development Committee as liaison of the Board of Selectmen , Cemetery Commission, Assembly of Delegates Standing Committee on Economic Affairs, the 21st Century Taskforce to review the Cape Cod Commission and draft operational changes to the County Commissioners, President of the Cape Cod Selectmen and Councilors’ Association and Board of Directors, and member of the Massachusetts Municipal Association’s Selectmen and Councilors’ Association.

Keyes founded his private practice, Keyes Quality Systems in 1998, providing consulting and contract services in management, ethics and compliance.  He and his wife, Melissa have two daughters, Madelynn, and Julia.
